Panchkarma

What is Panchkarma?

Panchkarma is an ancient Ayurvedic therapeutic practice aimed at detoxifying and rejuvenating the body. Originating from the traditional Indian system of medicine known as Ayurveda, panchkarma literally translates to "five actions" or "five treatments," referring to its comprehensive and multi-faceted approach to cleansing the body of toxins and restoring balance.

Preparation and Post-Treatment

Panchkarma treatment is typically divided into three stages:

1. Purva Karma (Preparation): This stage involves pre-treatment procedures to prepare the body for detoxification. It includes snehana (oleation) and swedana (sudation). Snehana involves the internal and external application of medicated oils, while swedana involves inducing sweating through steam baths or other methods to loosen toxins.

2. Pradhana Karma (Main Treatment): This stage encompasses the actual panchkarma therapies as described above.

3. Paschat Karma (Post-Treatment): This stage focuses on rehabilitation and rejuvenation after the main treatments. It includes dietary regulations, lifestyle modifications, and the use of herbal supplements to restore the body's balance and enhance its functioning.
